garden tub

Garden tub at Burgbad Sanctuary.

When I was a kid, I read a ton of books. Literally a ton! I wish I’d kept a list of what I read, because it would be funny to see what my 9-year-old self was into and I honestly only remember a few titles (Who’s Reading Darcy’s Diary, anyone? I doubt it’s still in print). If I’d kept a list, perhaps I’d know which book it was that was about a kid whose mom got so fed up with cleaning up after her family that she swore off housework. The house then got so dirty, the outside came inside, and they had grass and trees and plants growing all over the place. Tiny creatures, too. I thought it sounded excellent! This photo of a garden bathroom reminded me of that book. I love how surreal and soothing it looks.

My parents inherited a hundred plus year old claw foot bathtub that came from my great-grandparents’ ranch and they have always kept it in the backyard. My sister and I used to play in it and pretend it was our boat. Good times.

A backyard bathtub sounds awesome! Did you fill it ever?
